Faculty:
Suruj Seunarine - Lecturer in Physics, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences,
Students:
Initially there will be no post graduate students but I hope to recruit graduate students from the current pool of undergraduates. Graduate students will be given government scholarships and are eligible for research grants to support projects and travel to conferences and meetings. I intend to involve undergraduates in IceCube projects immediately, some of whom will hopefully continue on as graduate students. Students majoring in physics do a research project in their final year. This project is restricted to students who have demonstrated a sound academic background and an aptitude for research. The objective is to expose students to the real world research environment and projects should contain some originality. I will offer IceCube projects to these students. The department has a desk side CrayX1 supercomputer which has been made available to me for these projects and for my other IceCube research.
